    Default Searching for information

    Hello everyone,

My father was a merchant naval marine born in England, kennington on '31.
His name was Raymond Wilson. He was part of the '68 crew on the Elizabeth bowater. That much I know. He was an engineer and later taught naval architectural engineering in Newfoundland Canada.
He past away of cancer when I was 11 and his life and history have been lost to me since. He didn't have siblings and his parents died before him so I am searching for anyone who knew him. Or ways to find photos of him through crew photos. I don't know if anyone here can help but I had to try.
    He is still greatly missed.

    Thank you
    Mwilson

Default Searching for information: Raymond Wilson

    Hello Mwilson,

    RE: Your father,

Have you any further info ?

EG: is 31, 1931 or the day of a month ?

When he past and you were 11, could you tell us when this was ?

Any information, however small would help us much, to try and help you.

Any info regarding Canada, other ships, etc.

Any type of reference numbers from any nautical paper work :

I can imagine as you say that he is still greatly missed.

We will try to help if we can.

Raymond is mentioned Here on the crewlist from the March 1968:

From this crew list: ch/eng R573849 15 DEC 1931 Kennington.

    Regards,

    Keith.

    Hello and welcome,

With a little bit of luck this file may have a photo of him: Detecting your browser settings

Thank you so much !!! I've just sent a request to view his records I've never done this before so I'm unsure what would be included in his file but thanks so very much.
Could cry that I'm finding anything. It's been so long and he is missed so much.
I only found out details of what ship he was on and dates this week and I've been searching ever since ,

    Thank you!

    Hello Mollie,

I would say there is a fair chance of a photo [mugshot] in the file but not always the case so I don't want to get your hopes up. This file can contain lots of detail but it can also contain very little - you just need to get the file and see what it contains.
His full service record detailing his career at sea should be held in the following file: BT 382/3056: Detecting your browser settings At least up until the year 1972 - service after 1972 wont be shown. The file is best obtained by visit to Kew as it's expensive to get online.

I note you have already requested the file already given in my first post. Don't be too disappointed if Kew come back with an ambiguous or negative answer - they are not the most helpful when dealing with people via the online medium. However we will help you as best we can.

    Regards

    Default Newfoundland

Have you tried the College of Fisheries in St. John Newfoundland. I tried for a job there in 1967 and was on the short list for a time, but finished up working for a Montreal Company. I know I had to fill in all sorts of paperwork for a C.V. past ships etc.etc. There is every chance they may still have your fathers. All the best with your search. Regards John Sabourn
