Hi John I was with Esso for a lot of years, on VLCCs and then on the smaller ones until redundancy.
    Cheers

    Hi John,
I didnt do the Demetia, I was on the Northumbria, Ullidia, Caledonia, and Hibernia, the last VLCC was the Dalriada Third Mate, and got injured on Sea Island in the Gulf, so then onto the Aberdeen to the Brent and then realised they had lovely little ships like the Caernarvon running to the Channel Islands, much nicer than the Sea Islands. and only four weeks on and four weeks off.
Were you on the Demetia when she was hit by an exocet in the Gulf war?
I was made redundant when all the ships were heading for Taiwan. Took the big hand shake, very useful.
    Cheers
    Brian.

I too sailed with Esso - Cardiff, Warwickshire, Clyde, Tyne, Severn, Milford Haven, Humber, Mersey from 1977 until 1984 - Electrical Officer. I'd love to hear from any former shipmates.
