    S. S. Daghestan. On 20 Mar, 1940, the Daghestan (Master John Rutherford) was bombed and damaged by a German aircraft. At 20.11 hours on 25 March, the damaged tanker was sunk by a coup de grāce by U-57 nine miles east of Copinsay, Orkneys. Two crew members and one gunner were lost.
