Nice bit of detective work there guys :)
You' re all stars out there,You have helped me so much finding out more about my grandfather.
Thank you as i have now got some photos what happened on the ashmun j clough as he was on it when it was torpedoed.
It brought a lump to my throat when i read about that as he was one of the lucky ones who survived.
Thanks again
Regards Ann x
Does anyone know where the ashmun j clough was on D Day?
She departed Barry on 7th June enroute for Seine Bay, France - convoy EBC.4 - arriving 10th June.
Regards
Hugh
As Hugh says she was in CONVOY EBC 4 which departed from Barry on 7th June ,so on D-Day (6th June) she was probably already assembled off Barry ,or en route to join it.
Her convoy number before this wasEN- 364 ,which saw her arrive in Loch Ewe from Methil on 30th March 1944. This was her last reported activity prior to her joining the EBC-4 convoy. two months later, on the day before D-Day.

Thanks,
I am a wee bit cofused,as if she was part of the EBC-4 she wouldn't have got to normandy till 10th june,(after D Day)
Or did she arrive for d day landings?
Do you know if ther is any log books for her?
ann
The official No For the “Ashmun J Clough” is 169602 the log book for the 1944 should be in the TNA Kew in BT 381/3147

Ann,
May I ask what makes you think she was off Normandy on the 6th June?
She was clearly part of the Operation Neptune fleet but the Normandy campaign didn't start or end on D Day.
Regards
Hugh
Not sure Hugh,
I have my grandpa on it on the 29th may 44 till 26th August 44 whwn it was torpedoed.
we knew he had been put on another ship.
I was told by an uncle that he was sure my grandpa had told him he was there at d day..
I am trying to find out if the ship was there for 6th June or not.
When & how long did the d day campaign start and finish??
