Hello
Hello everyone
I suppose I'm a bit of a cheat, not having served in the Merchant Navy myself, but my father, Capt Owen Shepheard OBE (1911-1979) was at sea from 1927 to 1966, from 1942 to 1966 with Esso Tankers. His brother, John Richard Shepheard (1909-1956), was a Chief Officer with another company whose details I forget. My immediate pedigree is Merchant Navy, but I served in the RNR. I am now the Attorney General of the Turks and Caicos Islands, but spent 9 years in the UK Government Legal Service where I was heavily engaged in regulating the MN, its ships, owners and officers.
I am a firm supporter of the Merchant Navy and deeply regret the reduction in the fleet and in the openings for seafarers in the UK.
Keep up the good work!
Huw Shepheard

Hello again
Very perceptive of you Dave, I was born in Carmarthen and brought up a mere 10 miles up the road from you in Ammanford. 'R'ydw'i'n Gymro Cymraeg, yn dal i ysgrifennu ac i siarad yr hen iaith. (For the uninitiated, "I'm a Welshman through and through and still write in and speak the language.")
