Shipmates,
Have spoken to Irene this evening and you will, I'm sure, be pleased to learn that Vernon is fine. He underwent his operation yesterday. The procedure lasted 4 and a half hours and he came through it all with flying colours. Contrary to what he was expecting, the surgeon(s) decided it was only necessary to carry out a triple bypass rather than the five or six he had anticipated. Irene said that when the doctors told him this, Vernon said, "" Well don't think you're coming back to have another go ! " :D Today, he's been quite chirpy, sitting up in bed and annoying the nurses, no doubt pleased the worst is behind him. Tomorrow, they are going to get him up and take him for 'walkies'. If he progresses as expected, the doctors will be sending him home next Wednesday or Thursday. They don't hang about do they ? I hope to see him sometime next week and will give you a further update when I do.

Absolutely Brilliant - thank you Roger just the news I was waiting for.
Great news indeed Roger. I will go around to see him when he gets home. A great relief for Irene as well.

Thats a great result, big relief for everyone.
I telephoned Irene this morning (evening in Aust) and I am delighted to say she was very upbeat, happy and obviously mightily relieved, as we all are.
Many thanks for the update Roger, Good news,
