Kev Price That photo showing Bluey Morgan, he was an ozzie came onto the NZ coast about 1964? HE Lived in wellington and shared a flat with a kiwi A/B, forget his
name, but he was from Auckland and he ended dying in the flat with carbon monoxide poisoning, trouble with a gas heater. Anyway Bluey Morgan was one of the reds that came over from Oz then to, " Reorganise " our union. I was then in the BICC cable ship Photinia in march 1965, He became well in with Les Barber who was the secretary and there seemed to be " Endless " parties at all The Communist Country's legations and embassies. and they were well attended by certain members of the seamans union. I wonder what happended to Bluey Morgan. Did he go back to Ozz opr elsewhere.

Kev, Bluey brought a Dumb barg into Port kembla in the seventy's,we were battling the ship owner on Dum barges at the time we didn't want them on the coast,he came into the union rooms and snowy Webster got stuck into him,Bluey never new if he was comming or goin.we all headed down to the wharf and sent them on there way.never ever saw him again. Gidday Charlie. Thanks for that, because a few years later the NZ Govt deregistered , the Seamans union, I wonder why?? and of course we no longer have the
large amount of NZ flagged ships anymore. I came to the UK in 1966 to sit my 2nd mates ticket, never got there, tried something else and never went back to sea
again. I wonder what happened to blokes like, Dougie Morton, lived in Wanganui, Bill trueman, Hughie Jeppy, Davie Allan, and a few more.

Hi kevan,Jumped from the Imperial Star, hitched a ride down through Napier and onto wellington, got on the Kiwi coast. I lived in Wanganui for a while used to stay in johnny mc'gregers flats he used to always keep a double berth for seamen on the coast good guy!never knew them blokes you mention.I was on 4 kiwi jobs, last one was the Koraki my mate paddy Ryan ,and myself payed off and flew to the Mount booked into johnnies place had a few drinks.
The next morning i had a phone call off Joe brigs our union rep in the Mount told me he had a phone call off Charlie Hobson telling me to keep my head down as i walked down the gangway the cops walked up,told Joe to give regards to Charlie then went to travel agent booked a ticket to Sydney three weeks later got on the Aussie coast after pestering Snowy Webster for the 3 weeks joined the South Esk.been over here since. Cheers Kev.
