    Hi Allan.
I remember Joe Stevens, wasn't he either ex Navy or RNVR or something. He was skipper on one of the colliers when we were stuck up in Whangarei for the weekend no lights or power, untill we threatened to get a bus and go to Auckland and not come back.
    Cheers Des

Alan - Margaret and I lived in Suva, Fiji from June '59 to January '68 where I Managed Queensland Insurance Co. As part of Burns Philp in those days we had their island establishments as agents in every port the Tofua and the Matua called at and I regularly travelled to Nuku'alofa, Ha'apai, Va'vau, Niue, Pago Pago, Apia and home to Suva on the Matua.

USS Co had a nice office in Suva and -was it David- Woolley was a nice young bloke.

In my MN days I worked by on the Wahine in Sydney when she was doing a stint on the Trans-Tasman run in the late '40s.

    Cheers, Richard Q

Anyone remember Captain Forslind I think his name was , I was on the Kaitoke when he was skipper, bit of a character. some one caught a mouse on sailing nite and gave it to the delegate to take to the skipper to tell him the ship was infested and the boys refused to sail. The skipper said thats the same mouse you showed me in Sydney, the Delegate said no it isnt this ones got green eyes . Glenn Baker
