Yes white is for virgins only I think.
Though at one stage being UCL I am sure she was virginal for some.

White, bit like all brides, have to match the kitchen and laundry equipment
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Right cappy-I suppose it's the same problem with white paint-whether it's a marine hull paint or for your living room!

Incidentally Windward Islands had an identical sister called, predictably,LEEWARD ISLANDS!
She had a long life, not being scrapped until 2005,at 52 years old, probably helped by the fact that she became a Replenishment Vessel in the Spanish Navy for her last years, named as CONTRAMAESTRE CASADO -[in honor of the Contramaestre D. José Casado Ferreiro, hero of the Cuban War, who had his moment of glory on 3 July 1898, in the hours that followed the naval combat of Santiago de Cuba, after its shipwreck on the cruiser "Infanta María Teresa".]

Here's her 'converted' picture in a more sensible battleship grey!

I had forgotten just how white they were, SS Rio Cobre & SS Roatan, Fyffes in United Fruit (Brands) colours.
