Good drink
When at sea and even after most of us were considered to be good drinkers.
I have at times been called a professional drinker as there is never a day with out at least two drinks.
We have all felt the after effects of a good night on the grog, wake up next morning feeling like ten men, nine dead the other one dying!!
But scientists have now discovered a way to avoid all the pain.
They have considered what causes the problems with too much drink and why it contributes to hang overs.
It is to do with the manner in which the body absorbs the alcohol and how it distributes it around the various organs of the body.
From their observations there is one drink that will do the least harm, bit hard to believe for those of us who have indulged in it.
The drink is TEQUILA yes you know the one, one Tequila, two Tequlia, three Tequila , floor.
This information is readily available on the net.
Happy daze John in Oz.
Life is too short to blend in.

Re: Good drink
Thank god, now I can safely imbibe in my second favourite tipple, g&t being no 1 but tequila is definitely up there, this despite the first time I ever drank it, as a beer chaser, in Tampico when ashore with the radio officer, we both got slung in jail, at gun point, by the local plod who I been called to settle a minor dispute over a drinks bill.

sounds familiar John, I witnessed similar in a bar in Almirante, one of lads arguing with barman about a drinks bill, barman has a worf in ear of a small boy who disappears out a side door. Argument restarts but only for minutes when the boy reappears with two policemen. No discussion, only a gun to the head of seaman and one word - pay! Bill duly settled immediately and all returns to normal.

Tony
We never got the chance to explain the problem to the police, gun in the back, outside into the paddy wagon, straight to jail and put into a cell with about 50 others. No facilities, just a hole in the floor as a toilet and a single water tap.
In the morning taken out into the courtyard and had, what we presumed was the charges read out to us in Mexican, then put back in the cell. Then individually the others in the cell were led out to answer their charge, pay the fine or whatever and then be released. Eventually myself and sparky were led out and questioned in Mexican before being returned to the cell. Eventually the third mate turned up with a mexican guy he had met whilst out trying to find where we were after being adrift for over 12 hours. The mexican guy was actually a lecturer at the local marine college and when we were eventually taken out to answer the charge he told us to just nod our heads a pay the fine, still we didn't know what we had been changed with.
Once we were out of the police station we explained to him what had happened. He wanted to know which bar we had been in but all we knew that it was near the square where we had arranged for the taxi we had previously arranged to pick us up at midnight to take us back to the ship. On going there we soon spotted the bar and the mexican guy stormed in and berated the owner who was very apologetic and said she only called the police as she thought they would explain the pricing policy which was that there was an one price only for however many drinks you had up to a maximum of 10 and as we only had got 2 drinks that's why it seemed so expensive to us. Profuse apology all round on both sides but the mexican guy was not happy and was ranting on the phone to someone. Next thing the chief of police turned up and our mexican guy laid into him that I thought crikey we are all going to be arrested again. Eventually got an apology from the police chief and he organized a car to take us back to the ship.
Sailed later that day after loading a full cargo of gasoline for the states.
