Sorry John it is not any of the photographs of former PM's. It is an actual portrait of her that hung in what was her study.
It has been moved to another place in the building.
Ironically it was commissioned in 2007 by former Labour Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who faced some criticism at the time from left-wing MPs for commemorating his Tory predecessor.
Odd though it was a Labour PM who put it up, you have to wonder why one of her own did not have it put up?
The £100,000 cost was covered by an anonymous donor.

Re: dissolution of united kingdom
I have a letter from her via her private secretary dated 16 November 1990 , which was IN CONFIDENCE which I didn’t receive until the middle of December , requesting a reply by return of post. So I had no option but to reply by Radio Telephone via Lands End Radio. Think the operator was caught a bit off guard as asked me to repeat who I was calling. I like to think that I was the last bit of business Maggie had as P.M. Think she chose her own title of Baroness. However she had more backbone won’t say the obvious other thing as females aren’t supposed to have them , than any P.M. since. JS
Re: dissolution of united kingdom
Yes James saw the correction in the news today.
But no explanation as to why it is so stressful for him to look at.
Speaking with my sister in UK at the week end.
She tells me that the number of people now on talk back radio and papers are saying they made a big mistake electing Labor!!!
Re: dissolution of united kingdom
Well considering the mess the previous lot put the country in any new government coming in will have to make hard decisions.
Those complaining now need to get used to the fact that they have a democratically elected government and likely will have them for a long time to come.
At no time time did the current PM promise to wave a magic wand to repair the damage done by Cameron, May, Johnson, Truss and Sunak
Trouble with a lot of people in the UK is they cannot see past there own greed.
Yes, I may well have lost my winter fuel allowance , so what, it should have been means tested in the first place which in the chancellors announcement she clearly stated it would be.
The UK media headlines , pensioners to lose winter fuel allowance, what a load of cobblers.
Re: dissolution of united kingdom
James your political bias is showing again.
What about Brown and his mate before him, were they clean??
Re: dissolution of united kingdom
What do you want me to say John? I have a political view, because I have a view that may not agree with others does not make me Biased.
People keep on dragging up Blair or Brown , few mention the balls up made by the last government during 15 years in charge.
Anyway can see ww3 breaking out here again over UK politics, cannot understand your concerns about the place. You made your choice and decided to leave the UK.
Re: dissolution of united kingdom
Labour are making a big song and dance about the state of finances was left by the last Government.
Some facts:-
£ trading at 1dollar 40cents
Fastest growing economy in Europe
Unemployment a 4m.
Reeves announced their was black hole £22b, then increased it by a further 9m in order to pay her TU pay masters.
The £22B LABOUR ARE CONTINUALLY BANGING ON ABOUT IS SMALL CHANGE That's LOST DOWN THE BACK OF THE TREASURY
SOFA.
To put the 22b in relations to the overall economy is laughable.
The overall UK economy is in the region of 1.2trillion pounds you do the maths.
Re: dissolution of united kingdom
Yes James we left, for a number of reasons.
Yes you are entitled to your political views.
But you look only at one side to blame!!
How is your memory?
Go back to H. Wilson when the first oil problem hit.
He was advised to subsidize public transport to help with petrol cost.
But no, what did he do, he put 6 pence on a gallon of fuel.
I see the latest figures for illegals are in, not a pretty sight.
Over 20,000 now this year with a large number last night and a number of drownings.
What is Kia going to do about stopping the people smugglers.
Re: dissolution of united kingdom
Another 80 illegals arrived today in UK, on a 7 meter rubber dingy.
A number drowned on the way, but there is no refund from people smugglers for those who do not make it.
They remain in business as long as the illegals want to go to UK.
On the net today a statement from a French gov minister.
Of course they want to go to the UK for a better life. But the people smugglers could end their trade if UK made it legal for these people to enter UK.
Yes it would, but did he consult with the residents of Uk, somehow I doubt it.
From what I have been told they certainly do not want any more.
And if they do arrive where will they be stored?
