Short sea shipping is good for environnmet as it takes away road congestion,air pollultion,noisy traffic and enables huge loads to be shifted in one journey fellas.if you can get a job

Spent nigh on 20 years in the trade on chemical tankers, average length of time at sea between ports 48 hours, loved every minute of it. A number of my ex deep sea mates also went into the trade with the likes of Arklow and Everard's etc. all of them enjoyed their time in the coastal trade, long hours and hard work exception.

Did lots coastal work with everards and had some great runs ashore esp in england

My last two ships in the UK in the late fifties where coasters, it was great, all the different small ports, if I hadn't been emigrating I would have stayed on them, like working ashore without having to be there.

Did some coastal work on a vessel called Foch Rose, galley boy, steward,bedroom steward, even went ashore most days buying groceries with the cook. Would wake up in different port each morning. Sort of 'here today here tomorrow '.
