Les you put forward a point i had not considered, but it is a valid one by all means.

Combank shares will continue to rise as will all bank shares.

Here in Oz when large houses are sols very often a developer will but, pull it down and build two or three units on it.
Our house now 30 years old sits on some 865 square meters of land.
Minimum required here in Victoria for a unit is 80 square meter of land.
So to a developer our house is worth a fortune.

But for all the so called problems houses are being built in our area at a rate of knots.
Within a 30klm radius there are about 40 new estate going up.
Houses being built at a similar rate so some people are buying.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

John the only thing that may keep me in Bankwest alias the commonwealth bank of Australia , is my age , and the amount of effort required to chase all the standing orders going out and various incoming sources which would all have to be notified and can’t remember their addresses or contact numbers , plus arrangements already have made to pay off any credit card usage immediately in total , which would also mean all new cards etc. etc. it is a daunting task when you are getting on in years , but I will do it if get any crap from them. My first year in Australia was with the Commonwealth and I sacked them and went with R&I this was because of overcharging bank fees, believe they bought out that bank so I went with Bankwest and the same has happened again , they now own that bank also , isn’t there a monopoly clause in the constitution to prevent this happening ? Or are the government in conspiracy with the same.? The coin of the realm to my mind is not the likes of banks to decide it is the populance themselves. Australia being the country it is with far flung small townships need cash in hand especially old people. Cheers JS

Last week a middy here was $4 , what it was last night assumed it was still $4. I usually drink the Aussie Pint which apart from a jug is the largest glass going. last week on filling it at the pump it ran out when glass was 3/4 full so they had no spare barrels of the same brew. So she charged $4 for a middy I think a middy is half a pint and a pint was still $8 last night. So maybe they have forgotten about putting it up here. Too late for them claiming back today as has gone through the due process now and is somewhere in the sewage system. Cheers JS

#16 Someone is definitely gouging. Average Shell ,BP,Eskom pump prices £1.53 /L1.68/L diesel
Average supermarket prices £ 1.39 /L £1.56/L. It makes one wonder which pocket the differential goes in ? The fore court franchise owner, the Oil company, or indeed the government in increase Tax receipts.
All these “profits “ are alleged to be a result of the Ukraine conflict. What a grand excuse to push up interest rates , prices , and push up Taxes . Every one forgets the oil giants reduced production on the back of this and still conflate the Gas price with oil.
And that’s not taking into the equation food inflation . The wars are win win for governments ,business and loose loose for ordinary Folk whither they be soldiers ,customers , wage earning Tax payers .

Doug . “ sorry for the rant started out as a short on my take on My perspective locally “

    Hi Rod.
Petrol has always been cheaper in the States than Aus, even having our own refineries didn't alter that Having their own oil supplies they still had to keep the price down or the Arabs would have been in there like a striking cobra.

See today Shell is the only one at that price.

BP went from $1.85 to $1.99
All the other companies are still around 20 cents a liter cheaper than Shell.

One of the independents still selling at $1.77.

I use two independents about 100 klm from where we live.
WE go up there about twice a month.
Fill my Land rover with diesel and fill 4x 15 liter cans at around 15 cents a liter cheaper than any local servo.
    Happy daze John in Oz.
