Remember seeing whale meat in the butchers window in the late forties, can't remember eating it though.
Re WWII songs, another great favourite was Lilly Marlene, loved those old songs as a kid. cheers John Collier.

I like Sinatra, when I listen to him then think of the useless ones screaming some rubbish like children in a playground I, think of how far down music has gone over the years. Thank God for Cd's.

Vera Lynn also sung When the Lights go on again all over the World which was very popular during WW2.
Marlene Dietrich also sung Lily Marlene. She was a German-American movie star.Yes I too remember these songs very well.

I often looked for that back room that Marlene sang about to see what the boys actually got and if it was up to par, but could never find. Cheers JS
As regards music and soap operas I will continue my on going hate of such drowning out the actors speaking , if they call that the art of tv soapies they should take a vote on it. Unless the acting is that bad verbal wise that it is drowned out on purpose. JS….

Too busy Des trying to peel the years back , what’s in a name ? memories fade but certain words can unfade them but it all takes time as have just found out by the word Nielsen. There are memorys which we have long forgotten about lying dormant . However as know I am too young to be Jack the Ripper thank goodness .Cheers JS
