The Geometric system of working out different Triangles!
eg" A 30° triangle has a hypotenuse (the long side) of length 2, an opposite side of length 1 and an adjacent side of √3
Cheers

Re: Geometry anyone
Vernon close.
Put you all out of your misery.
It is from Trigonometry
SOA
Sine is Opposite over Adjacent
CAH
Cosine is Adjacent over Hypotenuse
TOA
Tangent over Adjacent.
I was not good at Geometry at school, had me going round in circles, could not get the angle of it.
But Trigonometry was great, could work out the height of a tree without going up there with a stick of inches to measure with.

Re: Geometry anyone
You would have liked Spherical Trigonometry then John , plane trig the 3 angles = 180 degrees . Spherical trig 3 angles can make up anything between 180 degrees and 540 degrees . Would just be going round in bigger circles . JS.
Isn’t the first one in plane trig opposite over hippopotamus ? And 3rd one opposite over adjacent ? JS

Re: Geometry anyone
I learned about that stuff at Terch school at the tender age of about 13 or so.
I also discovered with the biology classes the difference between male and female.
For most of us we already knew as much as the teacher, but it was still fun.
I was still going round in circles, but now chasing the girls, Trig was no longer so interesting.

Re: Geometry anyone
Here’s one that every navigator knows and will take you anywhere in the world , if you have a sextant, a chronometer , an Almanac and a set of log tables.
Haversine ZX= Hav.LHA Cosine Lat, Cosine Dec + (hav.L Diff dec).
JS
Re biology what was the fish that the male gave birth and not the female ? JS
It’s not the Jew fish ,
