Living here in Victoria we know what fire is, since the 1980' we have ad a number of very extreme events.

Black Wednesday in 1983 when there was a 500 mile wide fire front raging from the Adelaide hills to the peninsular.
Hundreds of properties lost, Mount Macedon only 50 klm from us was a wild blaze, a major bush area with so many houses in there, most destroyed

The Balck Saturday when a whole town was taken by fire, along with a number of other similar fire events.

But with the help of local councils and fire brigades we do a lot of bush clearing out of season in an effort to reduce possible fire load.

Currently the state is a tinder box, very dry spring and very little rain.
Most regions now are in a fire alert warning system.
Burning off just now is banned.
