Re: Ev costs
News on the net said that they were being put on stand by, so someone is having a lend of someone.
As to the oil companies, yes I also read that bit, but if they are so concerned then why are they continuing to build new servos?
Go back to your school boy days and recall what your science teacher may have told you, 95% of all Co 2 is naturally occuring.
Look at the DAVOS meeting today, oil companies invited to attend as the majority of nations still say they have an important part to play.
It is estimated some $1.25 trillion will be invested in new oil developments over the next two decades.

Sorry should have said 'additional three etc', I do try not to give mis-information. However it ia quite ironic that nearly all the wind turbine blades produced in China are produced in factories who get their power from coal fired power stations,
Talking about misinformation according to one newsreader this morning, turbine blades are shipped all the way from China on oil tankers, I kid you not! Never been guilty of that type of misinformation Vic.

Re: Ev costs
Yes Ivan, and here in Oz we supply them with most of the coal they use in those power stations.
News today about the number, so far 20, turbines that have fallen over in Canada, Germany and a few others.
Little wonder, some are taller that the Statue of Liberty and strong winds, poor foundations brings them down.

Re: Ev costs
EVs can seem pricey upfront, but they offer long-term savings on fuel and maintenance. If the costs still feel steep, a fuel-efficient hybrid also is a good alternative.
Recently I bought a Tesla and I thought it would be much more expensive. but it's good that I came across a blog about How Much is the import tax on an EV?, and I found out all the necessary information. And that it's not all expensive.

Re: Ev costs
Here in Oz Hybrids will in time rule the day.
Distance here is the problem, goo bush and no where to recharge but with an ICE you can stick a couple of cans in the trunk and off you go.
I see the UK gov is to slug car owners with higher road tax chartges next year.

Oh yes John, they are going to hit EV drivers with a road fund tax of £10 from April 2025 wow, then they will pay the standard rate of road tax the same as anyone else currently £190.

Re: Ev costs
The cost I quoted John is a standard charge for a standard car. Only right if you drive a Chelsea tractor to run dear little Porsche to school because mummy cannot be arsed to walk the 200 metres to the school gate.

Re: Ev costs
I beleive the first EV london taxie was in operation in 1897. In 1920 the london electrical cab company launched a fleet of electrical cabs.In the 50s, and 60s our milk floats were electric in GB,so EVs nothing new there. The emissions for my current diesel car is so low that i do not pay any road tax, however my wife pays £400 per year tax on her petrol car although the emissions on her car is much higher than mine. When i bougnt my car i thought i was doing the right thing on low emissions and it goes forever on a tankfull of diesel, now i am told diesel is bad.Electric, diesel, petrol which is best i wish the powers that be would make up their mind as their current whimsical decisions cost me and my fellow drivers more money.
