Re: Ev costs
Veri interestin !! A Norwegian Ferry Company has banned all electric vehicles from boarding its ferries, incidentally Norway has the highest number of electric vehicles per capita than any other European country, should do wonders for electric car sales in Norway.
On the side was watching a programme (drama) last night about about Norway and Sweden in the 1940's (USA production, I think) and all the cars were left hand drive, if I remember rightly (I stand to be corrected, again) both countries were right hand drive until late 1950's.

Re: Ev costs
That sounds awkward Ivan . A lot of travel in Norway involves crossing Fiords by ferry . Seem to remember staying with Norwegian friends who lived in Flora had at least two ferry crossings to make in the car before gettingto our destination from Bergen. JS

Re: Ev costs
British Volt Blyth.
So much for EV battery production in the UK.
https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/ne...alling-behind/
Britishvolt, a start-up company manufacturing batteries for electric vehicles, was seen as a flagship project for the UK government but failed to receive enough investment and was forced to call in administrators yesterday (January 17) with the immediate loss of 300 jobs at its gigafactory in Northumberland.
It is being muted that a knock on effect of this could lead to the collapse of car manufacturing in the UK.
There is some good news though, the Vauxhall plant in Elsemere port (French owned) future has been decided.

Re: Ev costs
It was Iceland that did the change some many years ago.
As to the replacement of batteries in EV, of course the service station will only replace a full battery at full cost.
So many mechanics could be out of work with all of this change.
Norway has an abundance of power from hydro so electric is very cheap there.
But for a country so concerned with environmental damage appears a bit odd as it is on eof the larger exporters of oil and gas.

Re: Ev costs
No such thing James, I was just pointing out how Norway operate.
Yes we do expprt gas and coal and will do so for as long as others want i.
But remember most of our coal is coking coal used in the manufacturing of steel, without carbon all you have is cast iron.
Yes China buy our thermal coal, for many parts of China it is needed to keep the people warm and to run power stations.

Re: Ev costs
India is another major importer. Without Australian coal, millions of Indians would be without electricity. They also own the coal exporting port of Abbott Point.

I don't recall as last time I was in Iceland was 1951 (Seydisfjordian) and all that there was a fish quay and a canning factory (I remember the smell well!) and an Icelandic gunboat, I know that Sweden did the change but wasn't sure about Norway, never heard about a change in Iceland

Re: Ev costs
Think Iceland has one of the highest rates of Alcholism & Drug abuse in Europe. Very expensive place to visit.
