    Default Brit Humor

About 30 years ago, My best friend Peter and I lived close by in California.* Today, he lives in Oregon and I live in Oklahoma, 1949 miles away.* We both arrived in California the same day, He from London, me from Canada.

We chat on the phone for about an hour around every week to ten days, he has some great tales as he was a bobby in London. One day he called my wife and I over and he had something I should listen to.

He had a load of tapes he*had got hold of "Hancock's half hour."* Without a doubt, in my humble opinion the funniest half hour ever. We played*three of them and more each week and wet our pants laughing.

Hancock was pure genius, and got my vote as the best, my American wife didn't get it and neither*did Peters.

Who's your comic genius, and a brief outline of why or what it' s about. for us foreigners.

    Cheers, Rodney*

Spike Milligan, but you would need to listen to him to appreciate him. Totally off the wall, comic genius.

Post #2 Tony, If you don't already have them, Spike Milligan's "Q" DVDs. I doubt if the BBC would show them now.

Modern day Peter Kay is the funniest stand up. He also has the likes of Phoenix nights , Night club owner Lancashire area. Also Car Share absolutely brilliant.
He took time out for about 10 years, he said he wanted to spend time with his family.
He is back on tour and every venue sells out as soon as it is announced.

Odd thing was that Spike lived in Woy Woy up the coast from Sydney, the name stems from being a lot of snakes up there and the Aboriginals used to shout out Woy Woy when they saw one.
I liked Tony Hancock, I was in hospital before Xmas with a big bag of something plugged into my arm, I started laughing, my son asked what?
I said I just had the vision of Tony Hancock, when he complained to the DR when giving a blood donation, "A drop of blood, that's about half a pint.

Comedians in general, well most polis fit the bill.

But there have been some fantastic ones over the years, the TV show 'The Comedians' was one of the best ever.
Dave Allen, Spike, The goons, Tommy Trinder, Morcome and Not so Wise, along with so many others.

I find the modern day comics are not a patch on the old ones, rely too much on swearing, but of course now poor old Paddy cannot be used there is little else left.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Life is too short to blend in.

Think i put it in the joke section years ago John ... THE ENGINEERS JOKE ...This nutter escapes from the nut house , and on his way to freedom passes the Char Lady scrubbing the floor , so decides to have his way with her before escaping the dreaded building . Next day the headlines in the Local Paper was “ Nut screws Washer and bolts “. JS

Very seldom do you ever hear Peter Kay swear, one with a potty mouth is Sarah Millican, funny but her language at times would make a sailor blush.
