    Just use LED lights
LED lights have become quite popular in the last few years. The main reason for this is that they are really energy efficient, and they are getting cheaper by the day.

Here in Oz at Christmas time the weather is normally a lot better.
Houses have lights like they are going out of fashion.
In some suburbs people will vist the streets just to see the lights.

then on Christmas eve lit candle sin paper bags all along the gutters, looks just great.
Then in Melbourne Carols by Candle light in the Music bowl.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Life is too short to blend in.

I accept that Cappy, and must confess when the kids were young it was more enjoyable, but i wonder how many families will go into debt, to celebrate a Xmas that they perceive they should have, where its one created by advertising by big business , mass marketing. i also wonder haw many go to church, as it is supposed to be a religious festival, mostly don't i suspect, and not me for certain.lol.
The whole of it has become false, in a world where we are being urged to plant more trees, and yet there will be thousands cut down and shredded 10 days later. A few years ago i went to Cuba over the xmas period, and the Cubans don't do Xmas, fantastic for me. My biggest problem occurs at Xmas because i am married to a lovely lady for 57 years , and she loves Xmas, decorating the house, xmas carols, lights etc, so i just have to bite my tongue, and hope she never reads this post, lol

John, #5, For a number of years now, some people started the Santa runway, on Christmas Eve. Candles in brown paper lunch bags, placed along side the curbs.... It really adds to the spirit of the season, draws alot of sightseers driving around town.....
