Saving power
On our radio today a talk by the UK correspondent who calls in daily.
Today he spoke of some ideas being put to the people of UK in order to save power costs.
One was the concept of not washing clothes, it could save the average house some 4000GBP per year.
Knew some guys at sea who practiced that.
There are other ways to make your clothes suitable to wear without washing.
Undies, panti hose and bras can be washed in the shower.
Been there, done that and got the Tee shirt.
But the best, kept till last was a doozy.
If your jacket is soiled and needs a clean just put it in the oven for 30 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!
He did not say at what temperature or if you should put roast spuds with it.
What else can be cleaned with out using water or power, not a lot comes to mind.
But the brains of Britain have found a way!!!!!!

Happy daze John in Oz.

Just think of all the power needed by fire appliances to put out the hundreds of fires that will ensue

Another energy saving tip, shower with a friend think that one was first way back in the 1970's? or was it the 80's during the 3 day week.

Re: Saving power
Saving Power, 'Tesco shoppers are infuriated that they are being charged 28p to park'
however on reading deeper, it is electric car owners who are now complaining that they are being charged 28p/kwh to charge their cars where previously they could charge their car for free. I was never able to fill my car with petrol for free at Tesco's. In reality those who can afford very expensive electric cars are outraged that the poorer elements who shop at Tesco are no longer subsidising their expensive motors, because you can bet your bottom dollar that free electricity was being paid for by increasing price of products on sale.

Re: Saving power
My son has just purchased an electric car, and the anxiety of where the next charger is, is never worth the hazzle, a lot of places are offering free charging, at the moment, that of course will change. He was explaining to me that many chargers are low kilowatt charges, ie just top up, and takes a long time, assuming they have not got someone else using them. The large kilowatt chargers you have to pay for, and it costs him about £20 to fill up, not much difference to my family sized car, from half tank. The charges for these high kilowatt chargers are certainly going to rocket from now in. Never worth the trouble to own one, i will carry on warming the earth.

hi john sabourn #6
good afternoon if your son still owns that very Gibson guitar and depending on the model, if He sells it he will be able to purchase a electric car with the money as they are sought after depending on the age and model.and they are worth good money.

If he still has that guitar it may be worth a fair bit of cash these days

#7 .Think if my arithmetic is right Thomas he was born in 1965 so is now 57 take away 18 so will be 39 years old the guitar that is .However rather think he may of sold it when he got married as I didn’t pay for the wedding..Would be too embarrassing to ask him now as might think I want my money back. It wasn’t cheap. Cheers JS .
