    Default Exports

I am aware the UK is in a bit of strife just now and needs to improve it ability to export.

In the supermarket today having a look around for a desert for tomorrow night, have to feed my brother.

In the frozen section some Frozen Apple pies that were being discounted as they are close to use by date.

Had a look at one, heat in over for 40 minutes then serve.

But looking closer at country of origin I discovered it came from UK!!!!!!!

I know we get bake at home bread rolls from Ireland, but Apple pies from UK????

Now come on fellas, you can do better than that, do you export Ice Cream, goes well with Apple pie.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

I think it's more complicated John, just recently farmers were twisting about the deal with Aus. going to put them out of business because of cheap lamb imports and then just yesterday I read about the first shipment of Welsh lamb to the USA, yet frozen lamb from NZ has always been around and not much cheaper than homegrown.

I made the mistake of buying Australian frozen Lamb from ASDA a while back , never again, use by date was 2024. Tell me that has not been pumped with all sorts. It was that disgusting even next doors dog would not eat it.

I have lived in the three countries mentioned, and to me without doubt Welsh lamb is the best, followed by NZ, that is fresh in NZ, not the export frozen. I don't know why but our local Club never has lamb on the menu. I do know that Australian lamb is on the tougher side of best lamb, but that is probably the country.

The very best Lamb and Beef here in Oz goes to export and is good quality.
You may have got a bit of rough stuff maybe, the odd Lamb can be a bit tough.

In the supermarket a few weeks back I was looking at some fore quarter chops which were described as Lamb.
Lamb does not have that much fat, even Mutton does not have that much fat.

As I told the butcher, 'mate that is not Lamb, that is Sheep.'

But we do get some very good meat from local suppliers, plenty of them outside of the major cities.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Reminds me of a few years back when USA complained of contaminated beef, 'Who put the Roo in stew Blue'.

    James.
Watching the farming news on TV last night it looks like any Aussie sheep imports to the UK will have web feet, one farmer was saying his sheep's feet were rotting. Inland NSW is now one big lake, and getting a bit late for summer sowing.

There is a possibility NZ farmers will move away from Beef and lamb farming if the gov gets the law passed.
The law will make farmers pay a methane tax on all live stock.
This will reduce the amount of Co2 according to the PM there.
But the farmers are saying do that and we will just plant trees.

It is nothing more than a tax grab by this gov who mat well lose the next erection.

All living creatures on this planet emit Co2 and Methane.
So maybe a tax on NZ polis would be better.
    Happy daze John in Oz.
