Many traveled on UCL and liked to let the crew know just who they were.
But this story is a bit different.

Having swallowed the hook I spent some time working in a theater in Guildford Surrey.
For the grand opening Sir M. Redgrave was one of the senior actors in a play called 'Sampson Agonisties'
Sir M had a liking for other men it appeared as he took a strong liking to one of the stage hands who did not reciprocate.

Opening night and at one point wearing chains Sampson is supposed to break free from them.
The normal way was for them to be tied with black cotton, easy to break.

But no, the stage hand used instead heavy duty fishing line.
Try as he may the line would not break.
According to one person the rage he showed afete the play was something never seen before.

The stage hand made a sharp exit left stage and was not seen again.
