Re: Elvis
I though he died in 1977, not 1974 as the piece says.
Just taken over our second pub that day and the first bit of news we got was that.
Happy daze John in Oz.

Re: Elvis
#3 John you talk about these pubs you take over like some talk about adopting babies . Did you make much profit from them ? Or like the old proverbial saying did you drink the profits ? Cheers JS

Re: Elvis
Hello
In 1977 I taught Adult Literacy. I was persuaded to carry on past the end of term and through the holidays.
I knocked on Sid's door. His wife answered; bawling her eyes out. " He's dead" she sobbed. I stood on the doorstep dumbstruck. Then Sid appeared. ' Oh my word,' I thought, 'It must be their son.'
"Come in," said Sid. "It's Elvis. I've given her 2 Valium (!!) she'll be Ok in a minute."

Re: Elvis
John, no mate only two and a restaurant.
We sole our first hose for GBP 8500 having bought six years earlier for GBP 4500.
Paid for entry into the first.
After a little over 6 years we came to Oz with about GBP 60,000
Would have been more had we not kept going to Canaries every year.
Pubs did well back then, latest I have heard is that some 54% are losing money
Happy daze John in Oz.
