No swallows yet, but swifts arrived two days back. The cuckoo has been on the hill for ten days. Buzzards are making a fuss on the moor edge.(Eskdale, near Whitby). All is peace - except that a blasted baby rabbit hides behind the compost heaps and raids the young peas.
Yes the Cuckoos ae very busy here just now.
We have a erection here Saturday and they are all out shouting about what they will do and how good they are.
But as usual we will still get Cuckoos no matter who wins.
I prefer the Blue ones but we may get red this time who knows.
As it’s Autumn out here just the opposite to the UK.
How about the description out here ... Autumn..Like an ancient Heralds call, rustling leaves in autumn fall,Though they whisper never shout , yet their message leaves no doubt , Summers heat is on the wane, Winters on the way again.or Unpredictable Autumn...There is no “ ought” in Autumn, it’s bound to disobey, it doesn’t like to keep a rule. But prefers to play , sometimes cool and sometimes warm ,sometimes sunshine , sometimes storm, Think it over , you will find , Autumn can’t make up its mind !

Another one from someone I’ve.never heard of...
Autumn Leaves..I ask a question : Do you know , When Autumn leaves, where will it go .
Without goodbyes or parting tears,
Once winter’s here it disappears !
You’ll miss it’s warm and balmy days ;
The coloured carpet that it lays ;
A sudden shower ; a gentle breeze ;
All gifts of Autumn ere it leaves.

Here in Blackheath the Autumn Leaves are really falling thick and fast, its a very Pretty sight as all the Japenese Maples shed their mostly dark Golden coloured leaves, but they have so many different Colours that it does make them something special!
Funny though there are so many visitors from China and Japan that flock here each Week, especially in the Autum, and stand all over the Roads just to take Pictures of all the Trees and fallen Leaves. How strange!
VAN MORRISON _ WHEN THE LEAVES COME FALLING DOWN. - YouTube
I find the fall a very colorful time of year.
The colors on the tress change daily from green to russet, and other wonderful colors.
We have a number of 'Avenues of Honor' across the state all very busy with visitors who come to see the colors.
But do not be fooled, Winter does not begin until June 21st not June 1st.
Australia is the only country in the world that does not use the equinox and longest, shortest day to determine the start of a season.
Goes back to around the very late 1600's when the Admarilty decided to use the first as it would be easier for ships of the line to all be on the same grid.
When the first fleet came here ity was RN ships so they brought the concept ashore with them.
