A mate of mines first car was a post war Ford Anglia. The sub frame was two steel I frames, and the floor was marine plywood.
Wipes were vacuum, slowed to a stop going up hill.

#10 In exactly the same situation as you Keith, only you were up on me as had about 4 goes and never got.The last go there were 2 examiners in the car , the second one was examining the first one and of course failed. so said I wouldn’t be back . They brought in the drink drive laws about that time , so promoted the wife to be my Chauveresse . Had to come to Australia to get one and had 3 lessons by a one legged man in an automatic and passed no problem . Work wise alone here had to drive as would sometimes pick up a hire car at the airport and drive a hundred plus miles to a ship which may of been 5 miles offshore and they would send a boat in and would hand over to the bloke I was relieving on the beach. He would then take over the car and drive back to the airport.

#12 Thinking back that would have been a good time to skin out , as would be some time before they realised you had gone , first of course would have to disable the frc you had to drive yourself back to the ship. Cappy did it all wrong when he eloped with his emu .JS
