Interesting that someone called them Ship's Woodbines. My uncle who was in 8th army brought them home and said they were proper Woodbines.
They were always bigger than the shoreside ones , or so it seemed. Up until about 1960 if doing a first aid course and treating someone for shock , a cigarette and a tot of whiskey was always one of the answers . How times have changed . JS
Nosegay, a term that may have fitted some on UCL no doubt.
Then there were the French ciggies, not unlike smoking road tar I consider, then Black Russian or Markovitch Black and White.
Both if in existance now would be under WOKE administration.
But many of them are no more, hard to buy now all under lock and key.
So far the grog is still OK, but for how long???????????????????????
