Dvla
As i understand it, the DVLA are now completely over whelmed with work, the HGV crisis etc, well , this morning a l letter from the postman, marked DVLA, a reminder that my car vehicle tax is due, now my car is an old model, but free of road tax, and has been for 10 years, the fee that the letter quotes for 12 months is FREE, but it informs me that , even if free, i have to renew the application !!!, so i go online as instructed, and start completing the form, it then suddenly tells me i can not renew, as i don't have an MOT, i have my MOT certificate right in front of me, valid till the end of OCT, but no cannot accept . No wonder we are tits up in this country, what a bloody mess, so i expect i will now get a warning that i risk prosecution if i do not comply, no doubt about it, i am too long on this earth with f****** idiots running us, kt

Re: Dvla
If your MOT has less than 30 days to run, then it's impossible (99% of time) to renew RF on line, I have been faced with same problem, it's in the small print somewhere. All rather stupid really as the anniversary date usually falls in the same month the car was purchased when new. I purchased my car on the 22nd day of a month (some years ago) but cannot renew my RF until after that date of that month, only way is to defeat the system is to have an MOT before the end of the 11th month, or take out a six month RF to stagger the dates, but both alternatives cost you extra money.

Re: Dvla
Such regulations vary from state to state here in Oz.
here in Victoria only need a new road worthy if selling privately or is you miss the registration date and pay late.
In NSW different, they have to have one once the car is 3 years old, then annually.
Not here in Vic for one simple reason, they mean nothing.
You have your car done today and next day a globe goes and the car is no longer road worthy according to the law.
So until a new one is fitted and test done again you cannot drive it.
Happy daze John in Oz.

Re: Dvla
I agree Brian, its a lot of money, and started out to provide maintenance for the roads, then got swiped for everything else. Your car at 1500cc is too big for free road tax, got to go smaller or hybrid or electric. Now when we all go electric with free road tax, they will then come in and start all over again, they already have, my car is a 10 year old hybrid , and was tax free, but after that they introduced road tax for hybrids, kt

Re: Dvla
Yes electric cars wonderful no cost for fuel.....yet!!
But here in Oz there is a 10 cents per kilometer tax, because if you do not buy petrol there is no revenue for the gov.

Keep polishing it Brian, KIA may buy it for their 'Cars we have made museum' at sometime in the future.
