It may be an interesting situation ..to cause a panic ....and suggest ......THERE IS A SHORTAGE OF JOBS .......as after the recent charges to stock bog rolls and fill buckets with petrol ......im pretty sure thedonkeys that cause these panic buying stampedes would with the same mentality rush out and get a job ....stopping the crisis of shortage labour ....jeez the mind boggles cappy

Cappy, The warning of possible fuel shortages came from this government. :mymy:

I beg to differ on that Terry, i think it was the spokes person from the petrol retail association that caused the panic, they had been pushing the government to open the border to hgv drivers, and that i believe was the reason the *panic* was created, kt

The cause as I heard it was that BP had contacted the government confidentially, to advise that there may be issues if they did not take action. As usual there was a leak of this information which subsequently led to the panic.

One of the high up ones in the RHA is a remainer and he allegedly leaked the details of the of a confidential meeting, the result mass panic.

Last Thursday (23/09), oil giant BP said it would have to “temporarily” close just “a handful” of its petrol stations due to a shortage of lorry drivers to deliver fuel.

At the time, Gordon Balmer from the Petrol Retailers Association (PRA) said demand for fuel was still at 92% of pre-pandemic levels, adding: “there should be ample stock available at refineries and delivery terminals throughout the UK.”

However, fears of a shortage of petrol then triggered panic buying at petrol stations around the country, which in turn triggered an actual fuel shortage as demand suddenly rose exponentially.

Brian Madderson, also from the PRA, told BBC Breakfast on Monday that the crisis was triggered by the leak of a confidential BP document sent to the government.
