Who are you
We have here on Oz TV a program called, 'Who do you think you are'?
All about well know people, actors, politicians etc tracing their family tree.
It has brought to the fore an inclination by normal people to also search the family tree.
Like many we did and found a rotten branch on the tree.
But a story came to light at the weekend about a couple who traced the family tree and then did a DNA test.
She with the three kids is now suing for divorce.
It appears they are sixth cousins having a common GGF in the family.
So maybe tracing the tree is not so good for some.

Happy daze John in Oz.

Re: Who are you
Yes its amazing some of the true facts that come out of that John, its normally a very good and interesting thing tracing back, but can in some cases (Like that) be very daunting!
I have traced back quite far and besides a few Convicts LOL all seems to be quite good thank the Lord! LOL
But must admit to getting a bit of a scare the other day when seeing something sent to me by my Daughter, wont say too much but at first glance thought Oh my Goodness!!! I have another two kids i did not know of! But turns out they are in name only, not Blood! Seems that my ex Wife in the UK got twice pregnant after the Birth of Son , who passed on at age 5 (God rest his soul) but from two different Men, but had at that point still kept the MacDonald name , so she Registered them both as MacDonald's something which when i found out was a bit peeved about! Anyway they were both changed to different Surnames later in life, Than the Lord! LOL
So thetre you go! One never knows the entire story of ones life!
But good ending!

Sixth cousins !!! and suing for divorce. I think the marriage was already doomed before finding out they had a blood link.
Come on, who has not had a cousin you had a crush on? I was banging my Great aunts, daughters, daughter for a few weeks. She was a gorgeous red head who was Miss Ulster at the time. She dropped me in favour of George Best, suppose he had a few quid more than me. I suppose I can claim George had my sloppy seconds
In my own defence I was not aware she was my something cousin at the time. It was not until we met up again at her Grannies funeral(my great aunt)that the connection was made. I can always remember my mum saying to me, You never said you were on friendly terms with Lorna.

Re: Who are you
Deska , if he had Mediterranean blood would have been Desio. There was or still is a Norwegian line called the Sabourn line, I’m still waiting to be discovered as may be due a share in the family fortune if they have had to sell up as per the present health problems. I don’t want to pay any debts they may have though .JS

Re: Who are you
Family fortunes not always there.
According to our family tree traced many years ago by cousin of mothers.
We are distant relations of Barrats the confectionary company, R Whites lemonade and Buchanans of Black and White Whisky.
Not a bloody brass rasoo out of any of them.

Re: Who are you
You should of concentrated on Black and White Whiskey , more chance of getting a bottle out of them. JS
PS did they have to change their name to blue or pink and white later ? JS

Re: Who are you
My gt,gt,gt grandfather was a direct line descendant from Robert II. He was a tacksmen (taxman) working on one of the Stewart estates in Perthshire. Culloden and the clearances in the Highlands put paid to that employment and he later became what was known as a Moss Laird..Although this new employment was voluntary it was slavery, but that is another story.

Fouro.
