One problem the electric car mob never talk about, is how are people living in apartment blocks going to charge there cars. The retro cost of fitting charging points is very high and would increase body corporate rates. Buildings with large number of rental units would have great difficulty in getting owners to agree to cost. In a lot of cases, the cost of retro fitting would be greater than resale value of units.
Could cause family problems, dad gets in car to go to work to find teenage offspring have used car and battery is near empty. He would love sitting in a queue for an hour on his way to work waiting to recharge battery. This is when 'battery' is liable to happen!!

#21 I would think those living in High rise apartment blocks certainly here in the UK are unlikely to be able to afford the RIP OFF prices being charged for electric cars.

Exactly Victoria. The distances in Oz would need Many thousand kilometres of new power cable to set up charging stations, and look at cost and fiasco of setting up the NBN? Think hydrogen a much more economical option in Oz and many 3rd. world countries.

That is one of the problems now, high rise apartment blocks.
We have them here in Melbourne in was many years ago was the dock area.
They do not even fit them with a telephone point saying every one uses a mobile now.
true to some point but if making overseas calls a land line is much cheaper ad more reliable.

It is more a case of a number of people making a killing on this with the support of govs around the world scared that they may lose office if they do not agree to some of the Green policies.

Within a 20 klm radius of where we live some ten new servos have been put in, not one has a charging point.

In London couple of years ago saw just one in the street near Kensington gardens but it was for members only.

In the news now, the EU is to discourage the continuation of Hybrid cars claiming the emissions from such are a danger to the planet.
Not so long ago they were saying the concept was the best ever

Had a Siemens TX which was sited across the corner of the operating position OK from the point of operating but to do servicing had to be done from the boat deck through the window because you could only into it through the back panel. Who thought that up?. Den

South Australia has about 60% of power from solar and wind, but being the windy lot they are I wonder just from where.
But they are now to embark on producing three Hydrogen producing plants with what they call green sources.
Could be cabbages who knows, but the idea is worthy of merit.

Producing Hydrogen!!! Can Coal make a come back? found this on Wiki
    From coal
For the production of hydrogen from coal, coal gasification is used. The process of coal gasification uses steam and a carefully controlled concentration of gases to break molecular bonds in coal and form a gaseous mix of hydrogen and carbon monoxide.[21] This source of hydrogen is advantageous since its main product is coal-derived gas which can be used for fuel. The gas obtained from coal gasification can later be used to produce electricity more efficiently and allow a better capture of greenhouse gases[22] than the traditional burning of coal.[23]

Another method for conversion is low temperature and high temperature coal carbonization.[

here is the whole article, There is that NAME again that the tree huggers despise, FOSSIL FUELS.
