    Default Snakes alive

My brother is a sparkie and his job take shim all over the place, the company mainly dose maintenance work with a lot of it for TELSTRA our telecommunication company.

I got a phone call from him this afternoon, he lives just over the road from me, can you come quick I have a problem.
Nothing unusual in that for him so over I go.

He is looking a bit grim and a little white around the gills.

    What now I ask/

Look in the garage he said but take it easy.
Open the door, look around see nothing unusual, then with a second look I saw it.

A bloody big Brown Snake curled up just under his car.
He had got home late last night, parked up and gone to bed.

What do we do he asked?

Stupid bloody question, we close the door and call the local snake catcher.
had to wait about an hour but he did arrive.

No worries mate he told me picking up the snake with his tool and putting it in a black bag.
Will take this away to a suitable place, snakes here in Oz are a protected species and it is illegal to kill them unless in a life threatening situation.

He told us the snake most likely got under the car while it was warm and stayed there, they are cold blooded so need heat.
Floor of the garage was cold at the time he got off the car so would have stayed there until the floor warmed up some.

My brother has I think gone through a few sets of undies in the last day, but that is how it goes here in Oz, never a dull moment with all the deadly creatures we have, more than any other country.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Someone found one this way if you can give it a good home:

This four-foot snake was found on the road in a Welsh town. Now the RSPCA is trying to find the owner. It was found on the road in Ammanford by a member of the public and taken to a vet. The young female snake was thin, has a few skin abrasions and was very cold, suggesting she had spent some time outside. If you can help, contact the RSPCA.

You never know where they will show up.
In a cemetry not far from the airport and there on one of the grave tops a Brown one, thick as my arm and about 2 meters long all curled up.

But like all our dangerous creatures, apart from polis and used car salesmen, they will run from man, and woman.
I have no fear of any of them, snakes, spiders, sharks, but the Blue Ring Octopus is a different story.
Deadly sting from such a small creature that hides in rock pools and is often hard to see.
    Happy daze John in Oz.
