Oil anyone
There has been much talk of late, more so since Biden won, that we have reached peak oil.
Electric cars and renewable energy will replace the need for it.
Not here in Oz I doubt.
Electric cars are being sold but at low levels, none can compete with conventional, ones when it comes to distance travelled.
Yesterday for a run out we covered just under 500 Klm.
The average electric car here will only cover about 400.
Now some state govs plan to add a special tax on such vehicles, about 10 cents a Klm to make up for the loss of fuel excise revenue.
Great disinsentive to buying one.
But as to oil, within 30 Klm of where we live there are some 30 new servos either just opened or in the final stage of completion.
Obviously the oil companies know something else.
Happy daze John in Oz.
Life is too short to blend in.

Re: Oil anyone
As you say John
Doubt if the Electric Cars will impact on the Conventional ones here especially, with the Distances Aussies love to Travel. Would be ques of stopped Cars all over the Nullarbor Desert Roads LOL
Where on Earth would they be able to be recharged! At Woof Woof Station!

Re: Oil anyone
Your road trains which pull 3 to 4 trailers will be reduced to 2 or 3 trailers of freight, the first trailer being full of solar panels, but how they will survive the corrugated roads of the outback is another problem to be solved, mind you the Chinese built 2000kms of super highway from China to Pakistan in less than 18 months, perhaps you could invite them to assist. It takes 18 months to get a pothole filled here

Re: Oil anyone
Even here in UK i cannot see electric heavy goods vehicles for some time, they would need to tow their own battery for that sort of power. Like all things, someone sat behind a desk comes up with what is perceived to be a good idea, instead of consulting with those on the ground, kt

Scottie kept the Enterprise flying around the universe on a single cell of nuclear energy. Science fiction then, scientific reality tomorrow.
