I organised it for my old aunty who has Alzheimers, she doesn't have a mobile and cant keep track of anything but insists on paying for everything, for example, a couple of weeks ago I bought something for her which cost me £20, she demanded to know how much she owed me so I told her, she got her purse out and gave me 20p, telling she always paid her way, cant argue with her so I just carry on.
Its me who oversees the card anyway, she just taps it on the machine and carries on in bliss. Shes not been out for 6 weeks so I sometimes use the card for her stuff.

Consider using a VPN service for complete anonymity. There are lots of free ones out there but the paid versions are, in my mind, more feature laden. One account can be installed on your phone(s), I-pads and PC’s. I use Proton VPN and email service which is encrypted too. Based in Switzerland.
Another ploy that I use to enhance CC security is to request a new card each year, using my birthday as a reminder. I call the bank and report it lost and they send a new one with new numbers.

Yes a VPN is good ,as i had mentioned before i used to have one, but had to uninstall as for some unknown reason to me or them it was making all sorts of strange things happen, After uninstall my puter was AOK ???

But before all that i must say it was good. I had a paid Version "Noord VPN"

Hi Cappy.
We don't have to worry about interest on our bank account; as it is down to nil as per the Treasury; in order to help the economy, who's economy as it's the banks that have and are using our money, not the Govt!!

John, here in Victoria the only persons now able to get a cheque book are those in big business, no longer the guy on the street can get one.


More places are asking for payment by card, one servo I used to use went that way so now use another that still takes cash.
Can understand why the crooks attempt to steal mobile phones, so many have all their bank details on them.

As codes and cyphers are very similar to passwords this maybe the best place to put this query. Any ex R/O if he would like to explain without breaking his oath of secrecy or his own official secrets act would be the best to clarify this. I spent more time in foreign flagged ships than British but on British ships think most had their own company code for their weekly or daily report in system as it may be . This was a similar code structure as the 5 letter groups as the Met. Reports put out for the weather bureau. Was this common practice with all company’s ?
The only advantage I saw to this system was the cost of the telegram due to the number of letters. Apart from one instance where the master on a passage from Canada was in contact with Spurn Head direct in plain language for a berth in Hull and was doing this on a daily basis. We were delayed due to weather and our ETA was adjusted directly also. Another ship that had been listening in and keeping quite until the last moment slipped in his ETA before us and got the berth we supposedly had booked . The master got a bolliking from the office for not going through them in The usual code, JS.
