    Cool Make my day.

    Talk about make my day.

I did my weekly shopping this morning at Walmarts. And something happened to "Make my day" and I swear it's not a joke.

Amongst my supplies I purchased a 5 liter cask of Pinot Grigio ($21.00). It was the last item to be rung up by the clerk and she had some sort of problem and called over a supervisor. The supervisors tapped in on the till then looked at me and said "I.D. please," Which meant she is requesting a photo I.D., a drivers license. TO CHECK MY AGE!

I looked at her, she wasn't smiling. I said "You're kidding, right?"

She was holding tight to the cask as though I was going to snatch it and run (leaving a cart load of groceries and cleaning supplies etc..

I burst out laughing. I said "I'm old enough to be your grandfather. I'm 83 years old."*

She still wouldn't budge, just held a hand out.

I handed over my driving licence. She looked at the photo, back at me and back again at the photo. The photo was taken two years ago when I renewed my licence (on my 81st birthday), however I have a beard now, but it's grey, like my hair, and I wasn't wearing a hat today. I told her "I couldn't wait to tell my great-granddaughter. about this. "Flagged" at eighty-three."

I know you don't have to be a rocket scientist to be a "check-out chick" at Walmart. But who ever heard of an under twenty-one, pasting on wrinkles and dying hair and a beard grey to buy a cask of Chateau Cardboard. I'll be chuckling with my first sip tonight instead of the last.

Anybody else ever had a "Make my day" moment beside Clint Eastwood and me?

    Cheers, and bottoms-up. Rodney

I often buy whisky on special offer on Amazon and the delivery driver always demands ID before he will handover

Had a bus driver question my pic on my pass last year, he suggested I got a new
photo - card, explained it was fairly new. Only taking the bus as I was not driving
due to my eye op. I said lets try again, took off the cap that was worn to protect
my eyes, then the large dark glasses, got oh! OK. Sat at the only seat next to a
lady all I can tell you is the colour of her eyes. Guess she paid cash.

    Hello all.

I had a similar experience about a year ago with a bus driver in Cambridge. We get a bus pas here at the age of 65.
I am 81 now and I do not use the bus very often. Usually you just put the pass on the ticket machine and the driver may just have a quick look at the picture.

On this day the driver asked me to get the pass out it's holder to check the back. I gave it to him and he informed me that it was out of date, and I would have to pay £2 fare.
I told him that I was not getting any younger, but he insisted that i had to pay up. The busses on that route are every 10 minutes, so I stepped off and waited for the next bus. I have never been asked before or since. I did get my bus pass renewed.

    Frank.
