Default D day landings light ship

Found this on the internet, built of iron and riveted construction, this now abandoned light ship played a pivotal role in the D day landings.

Any guess on restoration costs ? To much of our history has already been sunk as artificial reefs. Might be nice to see something of value " above the water line " as a museum. As a recall, JUNO was the Canadian beach ? Maybe a corporate sponsor or that government could do something ?

The Steel Supply Co in Swansea have owned LV72 for more than forty years.
They have no intentions of scrapping the Light Ship.
In the past they have spoken to interested groups who wanted to restore her.
I am sure the voices of the Welsh people will be heard in the near future in protest, as to why such an historical Light Ship such as LV 72 is being allowed to remain in such a state of disrepair.

Like so many other parts of the nations history this could have been saved and kept in far better condition many long years past.
But like so many others no doubt cost came into the equation, but that should not be the case with icons such as this.

As the end of the article states: Whether anyone will step up and save the last remaining lightvessel of its kind from its fate, as it saved so many lives in active service, is yet to be seen. One article will not have reach most people and to date the group has had little impact / results.

Fingers crossed, as most drive by and still do not know.

    Keith.
