A quiz with a difference
With all the hoohah going on about Brexit over here, the question is often asked, "what has Europe done for us". My little quiz is to ask what has the U.K. given to the world?
So I will start off with,
Computing
DNA
Television
Radio
Penicillin
Telephone
Electricity
Jet engines
Commercial jet airliners
Modern ship construction methods, think Isherwood framing.
Radar
Solar cells, the first moon landing would not have been possible without solar power cells invented in the U.K.
The steam engine
The production line (look it up, production not assembly)
Skin graft ( wW2 pilots badly burnt were the first to get skin grafts)
That's just a few off the top of my head, your welcome to add any more.
The pnuematic tyre
Rgds

on one occasion while in a lock on Panama canal, an American flag vessel was in the opposite lock, a shout from the American vessel crew "f in limeys, what good did you ever do", very swift reply from our chief steward, who was hanging around outside the galley, "invented penicillin for you poxy bar stewards".
Silence ensued, apart from the howls of laughter from our crew.

The first flushing toilet 1596 Sir John Harrington. The floating ballcock as in the modern toilet
was invented by Thomas Crapper a London plumber, and his name lives on in a shorter version
