Hi Les. I was on the Chelsea for several months. Joined her at Barking power station, then commenced loading alternate cargoes at Fawley and Milford Haven. Most of the time we went up the manchester ship canal
to Mode Wheel?? occasional trips to Dublin and once or twice to Dingle in Liverpool. Prime memory:- Galley on the port side, our mess-room on the stbd. side meaning we had to walk over the engine to eat our meals. And what a pig to steer!!
    Good days though.
    Regards,
    Colin

I take my hat of to you Colin for being on her for so long. I never got out of the thames and the accomodation was bloody crap as far as I was concerned. Now for the kicker? If I had the chance now would sign on her and stay on her given the chance but chances are that I am shaving with parts of the Chelsea lol
That's the way the mop flops.

My thanks to Brian for this site.

    Hi Terry.
Don't forget the rope yarns, on tankers used to get a bunch of rope yarns and walk up to the forecastle or center-castle and get settled down for a snooze, then walk about the deck same bunch of rope yarns, the mate thought we were very busy. On the NZ coast worked it for ages had many a snooze on the ropes in the forecastle.
    Cheers Des
