Re: the press
That stretch of the A149 is apparently an accident black spot that has had a few deaths. The County Council were considering a reduction in the speed limit before the DoE's accident.
Presumably if DofE was at the junction and being dazzled by the sun which allegedly was in front of him why didn't he just not stay where he was. Also if he was turning left then he would have looked right and the sun wasn’t to the right, it was apparently front of him so he wasn't dazzled. My guess is that he didn't look and just pulled out which is driving without due care and attention. 48 hours later he is seen without a seatbelt. He clearly thinks the rules don't apply to him.
Generally, after accidents both the police and insurers recommend not conversing with the other party, think this is so you do not admit fault etc the police will have to record all and explain at sometime the result of the inquiry.

Re: the press
I watched an interview with the woman who had a broken wrist, she said that there was no sun as there was cloud cover, it looks like the old fart in his usual upper class head just drove straight out into the traffic, he's lucky a ten thousand ton truck was not coming, he then ignorantly drove the next day without a seat belt, he may have an exemption, but the police said they would be investigating, if it's the type they always do for the Royal family the woman better get a good lawyer she might end up getting jail time..
I wonder what would have happened if the baby had been killed?
Des
PS. is it compulsory to wear a seat belt in the UK?

Re: the press
According to our news he was driving without a seat belt on the estate, which is private property so the law does not apply.
This was in the new Land rover a day or so after the accident.

The accident was not on private land.

Re: the press
let the police do their job we know both drivers were breath tested at the site seems only one side is saying anything and that is the press who by the way was not even there at the crash?? and after the crash the prince was probably bruised in the chest ribs ect so he would have an exemption letter from one of his doctors anything for a story accidents do happen? jp
