    We have a system here in Oz called 'lay by'.
    Buy the goods but pay off a bit each week until all paid then you can take the goods but not before.

    Now we have a new one 'pay way', a form of hire purchase.

    Buy, give the vendor your details and a direct debit will be taken each month until paid.
    Many are against this system and are shocked that it ever got off the ground.

    There is a place for loan companies , some lend too easily at too high a rate to people who tell lies on the application
