As I said we are reliant on the media which in most instances is slanted to suit their political agenda.
But if what you say about the miners and the in and out of employment numbers is true how is it that unemployment, again according to the media is at an all time low.
Have that many new jobs been created?

Wasn't knocking Tito mate, as far as I know from the history books, he did a great job of keeping the USSR from swallowing up the countries that he put together forming Yugoslavia. As I said, the people I spoke to never mentioned good or bad, so I had no opinion other than what I had read in the history books.

As far as Trumps handling the US unemployment - employment, you will find there has been a continuation of Obama's record. George Bush the second put the US, followed by the industrial countries, into the financial toilet: collapse of the stock market and the real estate markets world-wide. Obama halted what was potentially the worst recession and what would have been a world wide depression by issuing massive loans to major insurance companies who where on the verge of collapse from over extended issuance of faulty real estate loans. And to major industries like General Motors teetering also on collapse and massive layoffs of employees driving up unemployment. That is what Obama inherited. The Republicans screamed foul and shame on you and it's Socialism, the market place should be allowed to correct itself, no government interference was there cry. Obama would not take a chance on trusting the markets to the ones that had caused this mess, politicians of both parties that had eased financial rules that had kept the markets under some restraint from rampant speculation and anything goes financial shenanigans.

That is what Obama inherited and that is what he did to correct it.

Trump inherited seven years of continuous correction of the Nations unemployment. Trump further inherited seven years of continuous growth in the financial markets.

So far his wild assed plans have not been Incorporated into or changed the direction of the country or world markets.

Like the majority on this site Johno, middle America did not know of or wouldn't accept the fact that Trump has made a fortune out of refusals to pay his debts. Last year alone his failed Trump University finally made it's way through the court system and he was made to pay millions to people, just like many, that listened to his bullsh&% on his TV show, and invested in a sham supposedly university program that was to teach them how to be millionaires. Many of these chumps put their life savings or took out loans to pay his "tuition", one fee to register, a fee for course material, the very best (all the chumps) invited to pay more for the absolute inside info on real estate driven wealth etc. etc..

That is why the people who lived nearby (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut) wouldn't vote for him, they knew him. 33% for him, 61% against him.

I ran, as President, an international remote site catering company for seven years. I had relocated to Tehran, Iran not being able to speak one word of Farsi with $5,000, initial expense money and a line of credit to enable me to find a place to live, open an office, and go and find catering business. I built a ten million dollar a year company (in1975 dollars) within a year, later transferring back to New York as senior VP. of operations and two years later promoted to president and CEO for a further seven years, opening two catering and an engineering company in Canada and within three months becoming the largest remote site caterer in Alberta and British Columbia and able to financially retire at age 46. #303.. Thanks Rodney ,most people when they discuss politics speak rhrough their visual aspects of people , me not being a student of mainline politics also fall into this category. Yourself being a citizen of the country in question and politics aside will have a far more knowledge of the facts, regardless of which way you vote. There is an MP in our parliament here who has stood up and given a speech in which he advocates barring entry to an unmentionable religion. And has caused a so called public outcry both in and out of parliament. This is according to the media. There is no report on how many of the electorate agree with him. We are supposed to be a land of free speech and others apart from the media and politics do also have thoughts on the subject. Politics combined with media reporting are often used to stack the odds against people having their views muffled. Your views are well worth reading as show both sides of the coin. Regards JWS

In answer to my own post... a letter. In today’s paper says some of what most people think but don’t want to say. In case they get branded as not being and acting like those who would do otherwise.
“ The current brouhaha surrounding recent comments by a politician in the Senate is a regrettable indictment on the level of political debate within the parliament and across this country.
Having said that, I believe people have a right to express their opinions without fear.
To set the record straight: not all *******. Are terrorists, but it seems that all terrorists are ******* .
The deafening silence from the ****** leaders in this country regarding terrorist activities, both here and abroad leaves me speechless”.

What you have told goes to my comment that we can only gage anything by what the media allow us to know.
Most of what they put out depends on which side of politics they are, here in Oz certainly that way.

We are all captive to what ever they want us to believe, on occasions it is possible to find out ourselves but more often not.


Employment figures as we know can be massaged to suit the situation, and used as a political tool.
Promise the workers a better deal and win their vote, one of the oldest cons in the book, but many still fall for it.


As to our senator who spoke out about immigration, from radio talk back I would estimate that as many as 70% of the population agree but will never say so, certainly not in public.
But of major concern is that if we do not allow people to speak their mind without confrontation or threats then the right to free speech is in danger along with democracy.

You may not agree with the content, but you must defend the right to say so freely.

There was a very interesting, and lengthy, article on our media here to day about USA and China.


It is anticipated that in the next week or so talks between USA and China will begin in an effort to avert a full scale trade war.


But as the article went on to say, China has more to lose than USA in this.

Trump is attempting to ensure that USA remains the worlds number one economy, he is convinced that with the assistance of Russia China will take that position within 10 years if USA does not act now.

However according to economists here, and some in the EU, China will still become number one within that 10 years no matter what Trump does.

china is turning out that much exports they even don't mind waiting for the money for goods? jp
