Reflecting on the original posting and in general on my feelings about this when you think a lot of the 25 year olds who have put an effort in to get themselves educated and to get themselves up the ladder a bit further have some over £40,000 in debt for educational support university fees and living money over the time they spend at university rather than give all the 25 year olds in the country money I would rather see that student debt dramatically reduced for people who have successfully obtained a degree

Martin Lewis a money expert stated that student loans are political football news are misrepresented. A student pays £440 per year after qualifying to pay. He states that it would be more advantageous to reduce the interest to nearer existing bank rates.

I don't remember getting a free handout , I worked for what I have from the age of 15 until I retired, and to get on housing ladder we were screwed
by paying seventeen and a half percent interest.
Where is it written that a person is entitled to free or subsidized housing payed for by the tax payer, this is a privilege not a right.
The government should be helping companys to create jobs not taxing them out of existence, that is the way to help the young.

So there you are Terry, they didn't need a hand out, and it would be a hand out no matter what name you gave it, if you haven't worked for it, it's an hand out

Ridiculous, that’s over 6000 pounds a year more than I get for an age pension which I paid into for 38years. Bring back the work houses and see if that will shift some of them to make their own way in life. Some have no intention of working when there is no need. No matter how many excuses you make for them most are using the system to their advantage. JS

In addition to the above bring back capital and corporal punishment for all those who think they will take the easy way out and turn to crime. A term of hard labour may put them on the road to realising some have to work for a living. Stop all this bending over backwards which starts in the cradle and now goes on to the grave. Life is hard and always has been most people have already learned this the hard way. Take the cotton wool away and let them see the light. Others think differently and always will, but that is the privilege of living in a democracy. One of the few left. The idea of paying some 10,000 pounds for nothing smacks of communist heresy, and is totally out of kilter in a western type world. JWS

The thought that this would help someone get on the housing ladder is so ludicrous in this area and I live on the south coast a starter home and we're talking somewhere minimum and basic will cost at least £180,000 so 10% deposit for that with legal fees and everything else you will need a good £25,000 for a starter which would leave you with £160,000 in mortgages , are the current interest rates that is somewhere about £995 a month obviously the slightest hike in rates that will drive that upwards rapidly . So realistically you need somebody with £20,000 deposit and on an income of at least £40,000 a year to even entertain house purchase in this region so the £10,000 will pale into insignificance if the intention is to give somebody a step on the housing ladder

Socialistic ideology will always come up with concepts such as this, total unworkable.
They fail to understand the basics of economics and how any economy operates.
You cannot increase wealth by dividing it but those of a socialist following will never cease to amaze when it comes to ideas out of left field.
