Vale olivia
You may have heard by now that Dame Olivia Newton John has passed.
Born in the UK and exported to Oz at the age of five.
She began her singing career as a school girl on a TV program for kids on early evening TV.
Her fame came about when in 1973 she teamed up with John Revolta in the movie 'Grease'.
Some 20 yeas ago she developed Breast Cancer, but with care it was kept under control.
She then became an Advocate for other Cancer victims, in particular females with breast cancer.
In 2012 a new wing of the Melbourne Austin Hospital was opened, it specialises in Cancer treatment and research.
In honor of her contribution to Cancer advocacy and her generous donation it was named the Olivia Newton Cancer Center.
It was here in 2013 I had my Prostate op, and in 2014 my brother underwent similar.
It is one of the best such c enters in the nation, as a result of our treatment I became an Austin Ambassador, that is I make a monthly fiscal contribution to their work there.
Sadly some five years ago the Cancer came back and she spent all those years again fighting it, but sadly lost the battle.
Olivia will be remembered for her singing and acting for some time, but her memory will live on far longer at the hospital.
