Re: German Efficiency
Rob, here we have very long trucking distances here and the independent truckies are having it really tough. The more the conglomerates dominate the more the independents give up the more we pay for the product or service.

Re: German Efficiency
Hi Des .
It's here already. Just took the dog out for a piddle before I turn in. Thirty-eight kilos and everything he eats turns to hair (like the son-in-law in "In Sickness and in Health"). If he didn't give himself a good shake on the verandah we'd have to watch telly in raincoats.

Re: German Efficiency
Bidvest who had the contract are South African owned DHL German owned , independents in chilled distribution don't stand a chance , the small firms all get swallowed up , the same with most UK haulage , the market has tight margins , high expenses , and European hauliers are very competitive on cross mainland European transport , a lit of Polish and Spanish trucks delivering here

Re: German Efficiency
Keith, I hope you and your friends have a great week. Crikey, that is on helluva journey. Duck when you tell them about the NSWelshman and the West Aussie who were arguing about who has the best beaches. NSWelshman "Well, I have to concede to your argument. Your beaches do stretch 300 kilometres inland."

Re: German Efficiency
It has been stated that the DHL chilled food distribution centre in Rugby does not have the necessary licence to store chilled food. So all the chicken stored there will be ditched.
I see a big law suit looming.

Re: German Efficiency
A council spokeswoman said:
There is no requirement for the DHL cold storage facility to be licensed, but it does need to be registered. We have now received the relevant documentation and expect to be able to issue conditional approval tomorrow.
Officers visited the facility yesterday afternoon and were satisfied with all of DHL's food safety processes including temperature control, date coding, food handling and associated record keeping.
They didn't observe any out of date chicken or other foods.

YOU need to register but like ISO standards , they are advised but don't stop you operating ,

Re: German Efficiency
We have Bidvest here in Oz, a major commercial food supplier who took over most of the local smaller ones.
As to the weather, well down here in Mexico, south of the border that is, it is balmy, mild with blue skies and no wind. But this time of the year is one of the best in Melbourne and it is often said never leave Melbourne in March.
As to QUANTAS, well named, Queers and nymphomaniacs taken as staff, never again, their concept of service is something you get in church, or what you have done to your car.
Happy daze John in Oz.
Life is too short to blend in.

Bidvest are huge World Wide and experts in chill chain logistics , Bidfood in the UK are their food supply service , DHL will struggle with a single supply depot , cheapest is not always best , DHL cocked up Burger King a couple of years ago , tey are obviously looking at market share
