It is the NHS professionals who work in the front line saying the system is in crisis. The government saying all is fine and dandy. The patients lying on hospital trollies for hours agreeing with the professionals.

Like many people on here Louis they are playing the political game . If you talk to people who have senior roles in the NHS a lot of them I have heard use the term supermarket managers to describe the upper echelons of the management . They also describe time spent monitoring and targeting the results as wasted time and waste of money . At the end of the day no matter what government since 1949 And the conception of the Health Service as ever managed to not play about with it with different system different schemes each other political parties has treated it like a football kicked in the air to gain votes or to rubbish the incumbent government . In three years I have had inpatient stays with three different NHS trusts for a minimum of 8 weeks at home and health service is not as sick as people would make it out to be but to reiterate the problem is with the accident and emergency departments being swamped with addicts and with people who can't be bothered to go to their own general practitioner sort that out and a lot of the other problems will be sorted out with it

Once again according to those in charge of the NHS there is an acute shortage of doctors working in A&E which causes delays in admissions and discharge of patients also the freeing up of hospital beds.

The drug problem is set to much worse , a rise in opiates use far more powerful than heroin. An epidemic in the States.

###louis as a matterof interest i seem to remember you needing some NHS treatment earlier this year ...were you not satisfied with it ..also do you no anyone personally who has had inapropiate treatment .....or are you quoting .....the political propoganda which is filling the news day after day cappy

Those " in charge " are the ones the clinicians refer to as " supermarket managers " it's not meant as a compliment . the shortage of doctors or too many non trauma patients , I know what I saw

I am far luckier than many other members of this site as I am in very good health , apart from a couple of minor issues which is expected.
Yes you are correct I was admitted to hospital for a small operation in recent times. The care I received was first class , all the doctors and nurses I met were excellent , I have no complaints whatsoever.
If a hospital specialist is giving advice on the NHS and a politician is also giving advice on the NHS I will believe the specialist.

Re: A&E, I do believe that Druggies and Drunks who end up there should be made to pay for their treatment,
If they can afford Drugs and Booze to the extent of being ill then to me it is self inflicted, and so they should be able to afford the treatment they need.
Our Local A&E is full every weekend with those Idiots, Also I think there should be a separate Unit for them, It is Not pleasant for someone who is genuinely ill and these idiots are screaming, shouting and sometimes fighting and Vomiting over the floor.
Make them pay.

I have no understanding of your HNs in UK, but a niece and her husband moved from London to the south coast.
He has numerous problems and always had to wait for appointments.
Since moving to Bexhill on Sea he has no problems with waiting time.

As to the events of 2008/9 and the global credit squeeze, and that is what it was a number of major credit nations pulling back.
This was not the doing of Blair or Brown, it was brought about very much by economic decisions made in the late 1990's in USA and a number of other nations.
These things take time to flow through the system.

But Roger, he looked so cute in the Yellow shirt he wore at the summit, and now thinks China is great.
He did it though, promised the people the world if they voted for him, nothing new in that.
then once in office find it is not so easy to do.
But at least he makes the evening news entertaining.
