Just renewed my car insurance yesterday, i always hunt round as the worst thing you can do is to just let your insurance company roll, they will shaft you every time. I don't know if this system i encountered this time is new, but having paid for the renewal, and answered all questions etc, noticed on my insurance document that further information was required, they required a photo copy of all the drivers licences, front and back, plus i had to go to the DVLA website, and acquire a code, that last for 21 days, so that the insurers could check our records for convictions etc. I know that the code from DVLA is required for car hire companies , thats assuming you are not over 70 years, in which case you may not be able to hire, or if you can, it will extra loading on age grounds.
