Re: Glastonbury
Police dogs are searched for drugs and explosives at the gates of the Glastonbury Festival.
Security at Glastonbury was the highest it has ever been this year. Long queues are already formed at pedestrian gates while staff checked through bags looking for explosives and drugs.
Large public events across the country have brought in heightened security measures following the recent terror attacks in Manchester and London.
Avon and Somerset Police sniffer dogs, who are trained to detect explosives, were also at the gate checking punters as they trickled through.
So, cannabis, dope, weed or whatever at the festival ? doubtful !

Re: Glastonbury
Jim
I never said they were all on Benefits just wondered how many were is all.
Re: ex Servicemen in need, as I said, there are organisations that help them, SSAFA does a hell of a lot for them, they find them accommodation, help with their Health, Furniture, decorate their homes and sort out any legal problems. they do everything for them. No need to be on the bum unless that is their choice.
Around me and out of 18 houses in my once nice avenue 14 of them are all on Benefits and two cars, outside and all smoke.
I am surrounded by them , all young in their 40s and looking fit and healthy. they live a good life.
So that is not just confined to my avenue, it is nation wide.
Regarding homeless, a few weeks ago I was in San Diego, a very prosperous town. The local TV for San Diego said there were 9,161 Homeless people in San Diego, All along the Embarcadero, or Promenade bums all sat there with a notice, saying ," Homeless Viet Nam Vet, No Home, No food, ".
A lot of them were not even born when the Viet Nam War was on.
In Hawaii, they have the largest amount of Homeless people in the whole of the Western world and they were saying that they were going to send them to California just to get rid of them,.
So it is not just Liverpool.
I have slept rough in Liverpool when I have been broke, on a bench in the St James Church door way. on Park Road in the south end,
Been there done it, when the strikes were on, and I have stood on the corner of the old Sailors Home , pan handling, Done it, Never wanted to do that again. so I did something.
But for Ex Servicemen there is a lot of help, if they do not want it, that is their choice.
Cheers
Brian.

Re: Glastonbury
That can happen to a lot of people Jim,
I have a family member on the streets..
He was a very smart man, Uni Degrees, his own business and had contracts with all the major oil companies, commissioning Oil; Rigs, Tankers, and Gas and Oil refineries, across the world. Big Money. A big beautiful house and married to my step daughter.
Then he hit the Vodka bottles.
We found out that he had been sexually assaulted when he was in the Boys Brigade when he was a lad.
The man that did it was a Policeman, and was sent down for ten years for other offenses against lads, but not for his.
He went to visit his mother three years ago , and this man was sat in the lounge with his Dad, they were old friends.
He went mad, and hit the bottle, The man who had not long been out of Strangeways Prison then committed suicide, the lad felt cheated of justice, and then he was on the Vodka big time to blot it all out of his head. and became a complete alcoholic, It cost £8,000 for four weeks rehab, and he came out worse than he went in.
he was then out of the house as she could not cope with young children in the house with him lying on the floor, and being sick etc., bottles hidden everywhere.
He was sleeping in the park, then all his money disappeared, He ended up shop lifting stealing bottles of plonk out of shops, and then he ended up in Strangeways Prison , The same prison his abuser had been in.
then out again sleeping in door ways. etc. We couldn't do anything with him , we tried for a long time but he was going worse.
He is still out there tonight. and last night and tomorrow night but we don't know where.
A very sad story, from a Top Oil Executive travelling he world with everything a man could ask for to Nothing. just another bum.
We could weep for him. But he is beyond repair now. where ever he is.
Very sad , so it is not necessarily the Army`s fault, there is a reason behind every homeless man, maybe something similar, who knows.
Brian.

Jim it was a general comment, not aimed at anyone or any group, all I was saying was no matter who is in opposition of whatever party it's easy to promise the world, but Jim you read into it what you want to read into it. Anything I say lately you appear to take umbrage, only you know why

Re: Glastonbury
Incredibly, the numbers have soared since the Government outlined its duty to serving and former personnel when the Armed Forces Covenant was enshrined in law in 2011. It says they “should have priority status in applying for government-sponsored affordable housing schemes, and service leavers should retain this status for a period of discharge”.
Jim there are those who are in denial on this forum we all know who they are !!!!!!!!!
I see Theresa May has found that MAGIC MONEY TREE after all , £1.5 Billion you couldn't make it up.That equals £150,000,000 per DUP vote.I am from N Ireland and no admirer of Arlene Foster but fair play she has well and truely shafted the tories.
