Has anyone shopping in M@S found that the fact they are losing sales year by year, they are the most irritating bloody place to visit. Went yesterday, wife looking for wedding attire we have to attend. You purchase an expensive item of clothing, and they want to charge you for a bag to put it in !!!, no, you cannot have a paper one, they cost too much to manufacture and transport !!!, that is from my complaint to M@S . Her indoors wanted a hat, no mirror anywhere near the hats, the other side of the store. In Lymington M@S a few months ago we purchased a bag of frozen peas, plus bread and other items, thinking of the peas thawing , we took a small plastic bag from the produce rack, oh no said the girl, there is a charge for that. When i emailed M@S about that, there answer was that they are confident that their packages are strong enough not to contaminate other produce. They should state when advertising for staff, only fuckwits need apply. the worlds going bloody daft, kt

charge, it's a government thing to cut down on plastic bags, but M&S have been charging in their clothing stores for years
and long before the food stores were, the answer is to take your own bag if you don't want to buy one . cheers John F

Well the plastic bag issue is to help save the planet. You should do what I do and buy them things they call a bag for life!!!
I must have about 3 million of the fecking things as I always forget to take the bloody thing with me.

If the plastic bag helps save the planet, its a joke, most households are buying more plastic now than ever before, we now buy plastic bags to put in our plastic bins, so that we can put the plastic that pretty much every item we but comes in. Some of the items we buy are so heavily vacuum wrapped that its almost impossible to get into them without a tool. My point from M@S was new clean clothes used to be put in a paper bag, but apparently that now comes under the carbon footprint. If its also about saving the use of paper, and not a money saver for M@S, i can honestly say the postman puts more useless bits of paper through my door every day, all of which goes straight in the recycle bin. So what cost is it to the planet to keep producing paper flyers through the letter box alone. go to your local recycling plant and watch people diligently placing the paper and cardboard in the correct container, and all brought, there in their car, and increasing the carbon footprint, using petrol, or even worse diesel. its a joke kt

If they were really serious about recycling what was wrong with wrapping your fish and chips in old news papers which will still be recycled, I know they will say the ink blah blah.
My understanding is using more paper is good for the planet as they will have to plant more tress? Do trees not feed on carbon and give of oxygen ?
Last thing in the world the oil majors want is to stop using plastic packaging, just think of the dent that will put in there profit margins
