PayPal users Beware
I Received an email this morning supposedly from PayPal, "it is a scam" but it is the best one I've had
so far, it's still the old trick about getting you to check your account if you don't recognize the transaction
so they are after your password, it looks to me as if they've copied and pasted a genuine Paypal document.
Their method is to bill you with a purchase they know you won't recognize, in my case an undisclosed item
that I had paid $115.47 NZD to a NZ company called Mighty Ape Limited, it even had the invoice number
.
My son gave me the heads up the other day that there is another scam that they are calling a ransom scam,
you get an email "about whatever" that invites you to click here for further information, if you click on that
you open a virus you are then given a choice to pay a ransom of up to £1000 to get a code of some sort or
your computer is wiped out. I know I posted about another scam a few weeks ago but these two are different, we all have to be on our toes nowadays, I just thought that should be aware. Cheers John F

Re: PayPal users Beware
I received a similar email a few years ago, phoned Paypal, their response if your name is not on the email, its not from them.

Re: PayPal users Beware
My name was on this one Vic so they know about that, they obviously know I'm a PayPal user and my email address they
made the mistake of adding my name to my email and not starting with my name, I think they hope people will be surprised
and not check all the details and fall into the trap as I'm sure some do, if you see anything at all that doesn't ring true read it
and read it again and you will see the mistakes they make. I've just been looking at a video clip in the Mail online, it shows
a carer sitting 3' away from a 93 year old lady, the carer uses her foot to reel in the old lady's handbag she puts on a rubber glove opens the handbag and takes notes out of the purse, the old lady's daughter had concealed a camera and the police were handed the film, she got a eight week suspended jail sentence there are so many lowlifes around today you can't trust anyone. Cheers John F

Re: PayPal users Beware
It's good to see you back John hope you're feeling much better now, it looks like they may be sending these scams randomly
then, I get one or two a month on a regular basis some are easy to spot but this one was was a sneaky little bugger and
harder to see through. Cheers John F

Eight weeks suspended, no justice. Should have been locked up for at least 3 months.

I agree with that Vic 100%, they know how lenient the courts are so they take their chances, wonder if the record will stop her being able to do it again?. JF

Re: PayPal users Beware
Pay Pal is just a secure means of payment, no one hold funds in there.
If you are a regular user you would know that, and if never used before why would you open it?
Some of these scammers must be as stupid as the people who fall for this sort of thing.

Happy daze John in Oz.
Life is too short to blend in.
