Toyota, the Japanese car manufacturer has announced that is developed the solid state battery. The battery can be fully charged in ten minutes.
The company will sell electric cars with the new battery in 2021.

I see the chancellor has been saying that after 2030 there will be a big hole in his coffers from electric cars and the road tax, so stand by, he will be looking else where, kt

they will more than likely introduce road tax for electric cars also. When diesel started to get popular, it was cheaper than petrol, that didnt last long before the duty was upped on diesel.

When they finally get round to cars floating on a cushion of air , they can do away with the roads. What are they going to tax then, the air ? Maybe this climate change will be the weapon to do that , as the taxes from that will be hidden in the budget somewhere and won’t be noticed. JS.

Keith they are already talking about mileage charges and new vehicles to be fitted with a device that records each mile travelled and transmits it to a central data bank of the Department responsible for collecting the tax.

Still in the early stages all of the above, and i doubt if any of us oldies will see any of this happen, may see the New Car on the Road yes, but thats about all.
I still say that Battery driven Cars are not for the future, especially n Countries with very long distances to travel, no matter how long it takes to charge up, if you arei in the middle of Woof Woof, where on Earth do you find a charge station! No way Hosay i say! LOL

Not a new idea but in the news again: Scalextric-style roads that charge electric cars on the go.

I remember seeing in the war vans with big gas bags on the roof to power them, then there were those with boilers on the back, man will find a way, if he has to
